If I have the choice to sit on the bench on Varsity, or play on JV, what should I choose?

Volleyball is a sport where playing time is key to further developing your skills. Play on JV, and take this opportunity to learn how to be a team leader on the court. Focus on being a great teammate and get into your school spirit! High school volleyball is an opportunity to play with your peers, and get involved with your school. College coaches evaluate student athletes during the club season. Playing on JV will not have a negative effect on your career. It’s important that you are playing all of the time, and having a good experience.

Frequently I am asked if “I don’t make my high school team, can I still be recruited?” The answer to this questions is ABSOLUTELY! Many athletes are cut from their high school volleyball programs, but it doesn’t mean you cannot play in college. Club volleyball is where you will be seen and evaluated. Being realistic of programs that are truly an academic and athletic fit are key to your success.
