Recruiting Tip: The importance of college campus visits!

If you have begun the recruiting process, you may be getting invitations to get on campus at these various programs. If a college coach has seen you play live and invites you on a visit, you need to act fast. It’s important that you strike while it’s hot! Keep in mind coaches are evaluating kids nearly every weekend, and we live in a big country. Some coaches are even traveling internationally for athletes. Sending emails with a video link is not enough. You need to be proactive when it comes to this process. Once you are invited on campus, schedule the visit right away, and make sure you remain in contact with the coaches on a weekly or biweekly basis leading up to the actual visit. Your goal, is to build a relationship with the coach.

Getting on campus is important for you to get to know the coach, see the facilities, meet the players, and get a feel for what life is like on campus. As a college volleyball recruiting expert, I will advise that you don’t choose a school for a coaching staff, but that is incredibly difficult to separate. The coaches have so much influence on your life, and having a good relationship is very important. If something happens to you, or the coach, it’s critical you love the school. In your college experience, you are a likely to experience at least one coaching change. Assistants are known to move as the work there way up the ladder, as they want to be head coaches one day as well.
