Preparing for the End of Year Tournaments

Many student athletes are approaching the end of season tournaments for their sports.  These are some of the largest recruiting tournaments of the year.  Preparing for these tournaments are critical because it is the last opportunity to receive exposure from the perspective college programs who are recruiting you.  If you are not being recruited, these are the tournaments that will possibly jump start recruiting.

There are strategies for success in recruiting when it comes to the exposure ahead.  First, make sure you email college programs that are truly an academic and athletic fit your upcoming tournament schedule.  This way they know where to find you.  Don’t forget to include your most updated club footage from your season.  This is imperative.  You need to capture their interest from the beginning.  Do not send a mass email!  That is a sure fire way to get crossed off a few recruiting lists!  Also, gather as many cell phone numbers of the coaches you can possibly get your hands on so you can text the college coaches where to find you the following days.  This makes it really easy for the coach to find you.  It also shows the coach that you are really interested in the program and you pay attention to details.  The college coaches in most scenarios cannot text you back, not even to let you know they have received your text.  They will appreciate that you are keeping them updated because it makes it easier when they are faced with evaluating so many student athletes.
